Summer 2016 League Format
- There are 36 teams registered on each night.
- They will be drawn out at random and placed in to 6 groups of 6.
All teams play each other in their group; once home and once away. - League positions are calculated on POINTS then WINS then FRAMES WON then HEAD to HEAD if tied.
- After the group stage matches are complete, the top two teams are guaranteed entry into the last 16 of the Cup Competition.
- The 3rd placed teams are then ranked in order of their FRAME WIN PERCENTAGE.
The top 4 go into the Cup and the bottom 2 go into the Shield.
If teams have equal FRAME WIN PERCENTAGE, play-offs will be arranged for the Break Week. - Teams in 4th and 5th place are guaranteed entry into the last 16 of the Shield Competition.
- The 6th placed teams are then ranked in order of their FRAME WIN PERCENTAGE.
The top 2 go into the Shield, the others are out.
If teams have equal FRAME WIN PERCENTAGE, play-offs will be arranged for the Break Week. - The Cup fixtures are pre-determined. The Shield fixtures will be arranged to avoid group-mates meeting until the latest possible stage therefore some will be listed as "3rd or 6th-placed team" until the group stage is complete.
Winter Season: Blackball League Format

Match timings & late arriving players
All matches must start at 8:30pm.
Teams arriving after 8:20pm can not expect a warm up session. At least 3 away team players must arrive and commence the match by 8:30pm. If the away team do not show by 8:45pm the first frame may be claimed; by 9pm the match may be claimed.
In the name of sportsmanship, please notify your opponents before the first frame commences if you have players arriving late.
Blackball Scotch Doubles
The Blackball doubles will be played as Scotch Doubles. This is when each team pair alternate turns for every shot, regardless of if they pot of not. Talking between shots is not allowed but players can briefly discuss their strategy for a maximum of 1 minute (at the referees discretion) before each visit. The only exception is that immediately following the break you can briefly discuss which colours to go for, again only approx 1 minute.
The Old Rules League singles and doubles are to be played as per a usual match night.
Rearrangements
Teams are limited to 2 rearrangements per season, one per half-season. [rule suspended for W15-16 season]
First half rearranged matches must be completed before start of play on week 14. [rule suspended for W15-16 season]
Second half rearranged matches must be completed before start of play on the night of the last league match of the season. [rule suspended for W15-16 season]
Team Cup & Shield Knockout matches CAN be rearranged but must be played BEFORE the original scheduled date.
With the league average of 7.8 registered players per team, there really isn't any excuse to rearrange games. If you have the minimum of 4 players you should make a concerted effort to play the fixture.
What is the Shield competition?
Running to the same format as the Team Knockout Cup, the Team Knockout Shield gives teams another opportunity to win silverware and more matches throughout the season.
All teams are automatically entered into the Team Knockout Cup but if they are eliminated before reaching the last 16 they are entered into the Team Knockout Shield.
