The SRPL Winter 2015/16 season so far...

Posted: December 19th 2015, 1.00pm

Tuesday Old Rules Premier Division:

The old rules are alive and kicking still in the 10 venues in this division.
Top of the pile is John Millers' Kings Arms A team with 11 wins from 12 & 70pts.
Close behind on 58pts is Nick Cremins' Elephant & Castle A team.
The bottom slot is currently held by Mike Roles' Pig'n Whistle team but only 2pts away from 8th.

Tuesday Blackball Divison 3:

Going into the Christmas break at the top with an impressive 100pts are the Stevie Wonders' Mitre team. In joint 2nd (on exactly the same stats!) are the Regents Park and the Spike Islander with 81pts. The with the Anchor being removed at this late stage, all their future fixtures are now 4-0 wins for their opponents. In 8th position are Annamarie Jarmans' Chapel B team.
There are no outstanding results in this division.

Tuesday Blackball Division 2:

Topped by Ben Priors' unbeaten Elephant & Castle B team on 106pts; will Neil Turners' Shield & Dagger team be able to close up the 25pt gap before the season ends?
The bottom slot is currently held by Gavin Woods' Alexandra team with 36pts.
1x match is missing result evidence in this division:
15th Sept: Shirley Hotel 5v4 Alexandra

Tuesday Blackball Division 1:

It's all the Jimmy's at the top of division 1 with Jimmy Elys' Firehouse team on 83pts only 9pts clear of Jimmy Sullivans' Prince of Wales team. Close behind are Darcy Henrys' Kings Arms team on 73pts.
In 9th, but only 1pt off 8th, are Rich Wilkins' Station A team on 37pts having claimed their only win this season so far last week against local rivals the Bitterne Park.
1x outstanding match to be rearranged at the moment (subject to Cup and Shield results):
15th Dec. Bitterne Park Hotel A v Hinkler A

Tuesday Blackball Premier Division:

Aaron Pellows' Shield & Dagger team are still able to top the league (despite the change to blackball rules), but only just! Sitting on 88pts just 4pts ahead of Lee Bells' Gardeners Arms team and they're just 3pts off James Collinsons' Chapel team. It's all very tight at the top!
9th position at the moment is Jason Palmers' Angel team who are struggling to find form again after their only win of the season so far back in October.
There are no outstanding results in this division.

Thursday Old Rules Premier Division

Paul Elkins' North Baddesley Social Club A team are ruling the roost with 9 wins from 9 and 54pts. Doug Noyces' Saints team are second with 46pts. Tom Callaways' Elephant & Castle B team chalked up their first win of the season this week and round out the division on 14pts.
1x outstanding result from this division:
3rd Dec: Shield & Dagger B v Hare & Hounds

Thursday Blackball Division 2:

Ryan Longhursts' Ice House team hold the top slot here, but only just! Dan Grennells' Monks Brook team are 1pt behind them having won all 11 matches this season so far. Could it come down to the very last match of the season when the two teams meet at the Ice House?
Paul Alders' Pre-Bar occupy the bottom position having yet to win a match.
1x match missing evidence in this division:
12th Nov: Regents Park 4v5 Bridge B

Thursday Blackball Division 1:

Sitting 18pts clear, and with a match in hand, Stuart Chaltons' Yacht team top this division with 10 wins from 11. Second place are Dean Cousins' Peartree team on 83pts.
Joint 9th are Danny Campbells' Old Farmhouse team and Rob Camfields' Keys A team on 46pts.
1x outstanding match to be rearranged at the moment (subject to Cup and Shield results):
19th Nov. Old Farmhouse v Shooting Star A
1x outstanding result from this division:
17th Dec. - Keys A v Yacht

Thursday Blackball Premier Division:

Storming away with the points this season are Dave McEwans' Gardeners Arms team with an impressive 12 wins from 12 and 116pts; 16pts clear of Martyn Geddes' Brass Monkey team in second. Propping up the division is Vicky Colemans' Chapel G team who are yet to chalk up a win.

A couple of other points to note:

New players are only able to be added to a team up until the last 4 league matches.
Team MUST give 24hrs notice to their opponents if they are unable to attend a match. This is the only way a match can avoid being forfeited.

Matches with missing result evidence will be penalised 1pt at the end of the season.

The first week back in 2016 is Team Cup and Shield matches. Don't forget to check the website to see where you're playing!

Next Season

I know it's nearly Christmas but we're already planning ahead for the (hopefully) hot summer months. Registration will open for the Summer 2016 season in February, with the season starting on the 12th April.
The committee have decided to run the same format 15 weeks season as this summer; Blackball rules only and randomly drawn Group Stages through to Finals. Registration will cost £20 per team and matches will be played to the current Blackball divisions format of 9 frames per night.

Overall a great season so far for all SRPL teams.
Have a fantastic Christmas & New Year and we'll see you on the baize in 2016!

As noted from our previous registration forms, many venues are restricted on allowing under 18's in. Due to this we need all teams to take note of the following:

While under 18's are permitted to play in matches and enter the various SRPL competitions; the Committee will not take into consideration underage players when drawing up fixtures.

Teams must take responsibility for any under 18 players themselves and if in doubt about entry to a venue, call them on the number listed on the TEAMS page.
Exceptions will not be made by the SRPL Committee.
